Templar

Templar talent calculator that you will find bellow will help you decide which way you will build this versatile class. Choosing the right skill line will provide you with the ability to tank, heal or do good deal of damage. There are a lot of combinations to choose from and wielding bows and healing your buddies from a distance, or going up close and personal with heavy armor and self healing are all good choices with the Templar. Pick and choose carefully and you can define your playstyle in many ways. We hope the skill calculator tool will help you decide what to do in various stages of your character’s progression.

Data seen in this ESO Templar skill calculator is based off of PTS 3.0 build of the game’s client. In preparation for the release of ESO Morrowind DLC/expansion we have decided to make the default talent calculator reflect PTS skills so you can plan in advance. We will also update it as things are certainly going to change as we get closer to release on live.

ESO Morrowind Update: Skill calculator has been updated to live servers version 3.0.5 data – same as what people playing Morrowind early access are getting. All the spell values (damage and such) are based on the assumption that you have 15000 Stamina, 15000 Magicka and 1500 Weapon and Spell damage. This means that if your character has different values your in-game tooltips will show different values.

Multi-purpose "Toothpick Templar"

I've been using this build since launch with great success. It's just a basic Heavy Armor Templar build, where most damage comes from Puncturing Sweeps, which have lovingly been adopted by the community as "Toothpicks". The ability is very powerful, spammable, can crit (especially with the "Burning Light" Aedric Spear passive), and interrupts. It slices! It dices! It chops!

Most engagements begin with a charge ability (I chose two handed weapon, you could choose whatever weapon you like that has a charge ability or gap closer). After the enemy is immobilized, get off rounds of Puncturing Sweeps. If the enemy runs, charge again OR use Binding Javelin to pin them down and Puncturing Sweep some more.

I've included extra cc (Toppling Charge) and buffs (Repentance and Empowering Sweep) to aid when necessary, use them when appropriate to help you toothpick away.

For equipment, this is a 5 heavy armor, 2 light armor build for survivability and sustainability, however there is no need to stick to this specific 2:5 ratio. I do not include any passives that require x amounts of either set to be equipped, so swap them out to find your balance. I would include some spell damage enchants on equipment to hit harder, as well as some magicka recovery to sustain those toothpicks, but would probably stick with a max health boost food buff because those things are amazing.

Overall this build is a good balance of DPS, Survivability, and Support. Great for Solo'ing PVE or Zerging PVP, with plenty of room for customizing to your specific needs. The second weapon could further reinforce one of those roles by going with:

Bow for better PVP engagements and versatility (range is very useful in PVP)
Sword and Shield for better tanking.
Restoration staff for better supporting.

High Elf race is absolutely optional, but I liked the magicka bonuses. Like everything else in ESO: pick what you like and make it work. :)

ESO is still early in its development, and any changes to skills could make this build no longer viable. Check updates and patch notes to make sure this build is still viable or else you might be spending a lot of time respec'ing. Thanks everyone! Go have fun!
